A Fashionista's Dream: New York Fashion Week!
New York Fashion Week is dying down and I am suffering from a fashion high! NYFW was showcasing Fall 2010 Ready To Wear collections from the new like Christian Siriano to the old stand by's like Michael Kors and Calvin Klein. I want to look at the big trends that I saw this year: sweaters, jumpsuits, draping, metallic, prints, outerwear, ruffles, and BOHO.
JUMPSUITS-
Here are two examples of some jumpsuits, the above comes from the eccentric Betsy Johnson. I love the color and the print on the jumpsuit, this Fall season does have a lot of deep tones but a lot of the designers are also using brights to spice their collections up. On the right is a jumpsuit from Christian Siriano, winner of Project Runway. He is the only winner that has really made it big, and I personally love his aesthetic!
Below on the left is a jumpsuit from one of my personal faves, Charlotte Ronson! She knows how to showcase a women's body. In order to wear a jumpsuit you need a pretty rockin' bod but if you can pull it off try a suit separate. On the right is a jumpsuit from Lacoste, I love how they extenuated the waist with the bright red belt.
METALLIC-
Here are two examples of the metallic trend. To the left is a very cute cocktail dress by Miss Posh Spice herself: Victoria Beckham. She has made a huge splash onto the fashion scene and I LOVE IT! The dress is two-tone and wonderful, she also knows a women's body. To the right is a fashion legend Diane von Furstenburg, this is a very fashion forward piece that I am in LOVE with, the black sweater and skirt with the POP of metallic is perfect.
Below are two more metallic looks the one on the left is from Christian Siriano. This is a very cute dress for a dinner date or a night out with the girls. VERY Sex and the City if you ask me, def a Carrie dress. I love the collar on the dress, it makes it stand out. On the right is a dress from Luca Luca and is perfect for a Broadway play or a night out with the boy. The neckline makes this dress, the keyhole is placed perfectly and shows just enough skin to make it HOT! HUGE
Stay tuned through out the week for the continuation of my New York Fashion Week report. I wish I could have done it all at once but I am just too BUSY AHHHHH, tomorrow will be the next instalment! HUGE

Alexander McQueen A TRUE Avant-Garde Genius
Today I was devastated to find out that one of the best designers had passed away: Alexander McQueen. McQueen was best known for his fearless avant-garde fashion designs and his impeccable tailoring. His work was over the top but it a wonderful, tasteful way and that is what made his such a famous designer.
He is know for looks like this:
These are very avant-garde and beautiful.
But he also known for his wonderful ready to wear fashions like these:
These are stunning, flowing dresses that shows off all of his wonderful tailoring.
McQueen's name has made a much bigger splash after he teamed up with Lady GaGa on his most recent fashion show where GaGa released her newest single: Bad Romance. She whore almost ALL McQueen in her Bad Romance video:
But McQueen is very popular with MANY celebrities on the red carpet not just GaGa:
Cate Blanchett in McQueen at the Benjamin Button Premiere
Victoria "Posh" Beckham
Rihanna in McQueen
McQueen was an amazing man who was different and an artist. He created art, not all can understand such fashions but he created true avant-garde and pushed it to new heights.
Many were surprised by the death of McQueen, here are some tweets from people in shock:
MrJayManuel twetted: I'm just stunned and devastated at the huge loss the fashion industry took today. Alexander McQueen was a genius!! RIP
csiriano (Christan Siriano): I really think McQueen is the most talented artists of my lifetime, wish his family well
rzrachelzoe: I cant describe the tragic loss of such a brilliant man and designer Alexander McQueen..R.I.P xoRZ

tyrabanks: RIP Alexander McQueen. so so sad. such a huge loss. He was one of my favorite designers. He will be missed.
KimKardashian: I just found out Alexander McQueen died!!! I'm in shock! So sad! I'm wearing one of his dresses now! He was such a talented designer.
Those are just a few of celebrities stunned over the loss of such a great man. Twitter is overwhelmed with people twitting about McQueen!
This is a very sad blog but I felt is was necessary to blog about a man that has changed the fashion world for ever. He will be there right next to Chanel and Dior, he was a fabulous man. My Heart, thoughts, and prayers go out to him and his family during this horrible and difficult time.
